DAN ABRAHAMDan Abraham has served on the Board of Trustees for the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese for over 20 years and has formerly served as Chairperson for the Order of St. Ignatius. He is President of Savory Foods, Inc. / PennStreet Bakery and has served as past Chairperson for the National Association of Convenience Stores.
He and his wife, Kathy, are members of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, MI, where he serves on the board and has served as a church school teacher. The highlight of his week is bringing bags of treats for the young kids each week: "There are gaps in leadership within the Orthodox Church at large, particularly at the parish level. Orthodox churches in America were organized primarily within ethnic communities. Immigrants were strong believers and a priority for them was to ensure their children and grandchildren had a place to worship and a faith to believe. They did well and churches grew. We welcomed Christians from various walks of life and churches continued to grow. Parish Leadership did not mature and develop with this growth in Orthodoxy. The Orthodox Christian Leadership Initiative focuses on teaching, mentoring, and training people of all ages and backgrounds how to be Orthodox Christian leaders to ensure long-term viability for their parish. |
